Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced by Nick Lowe and Scott Mathews, the American songwriter's sixth studio album is a slick, energetic fusion of heartland rock and new wave pop aesthetics. 'Riding With the King' features incredibly sharp, witty lyricism and the standout title track, which was famously covered by Eric Clapton and B.B. King years later. It represents a vital stepping stone toward the massive critical acclaim he would achieve later in the decade.
