Album Notes & Community Reviews

Defined by its stark, minimalist production and the unvarnished vocals inspired by Arthur Janov's primal therapy, 'John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band' is an unflinchingly direct exploration of childhood trauma, disillusionment, and personal catharsis. Backed by the sparse instrumentation of Ringo Starr and Klaus Voormann, Lennon's songwriting confronts his own abandonment on tracks like "Mother" while deconstructing cultural and religious idols, including his former band, on the pivotal song "God."
