Recorded during his infamous 'Lost Weekend' separation from Yoko Ono, John Lennon's fifth solo album is a fascinatingly schizophrenic document of intense emotional turmoil. 'Walls and Bridges' is a wonderfully melodic, occasionally incredibly playful pop-rock record, perfectly balancing remarkably mellow, intensely melancholic reflections on lonely heartbreak with fiercely sarcastic, funk-inflected grooves.
