Album Notes & Community Reviews

Captured live in Japan, this high-energy trio recording showcases the guitarist in a raw, stripped-down setting prior to his heavily synthesized Gramavision era. 'East Meets West' leans aggressively into complex post-bop improvisation, anchored by the phenomenal rhythm section of Steve Swallow and Adam Nussbaum. The album is highly regarded for its visceral live energy and Scofield's blistering, angular soloing.
