Album Notes & Community Reviews

John Vanderslice's solo debut, 'Mass Suicide Occult Figurines' takes its title from a line in Neutral Milk Hotel's 'Song Against Sex' and compresses eleven songs into a lo-fi indie rock record of skewed melodies and anxious, literate songwriting. Its track 'Bill Gates Must Die' drew attention through a fabricated story of a Microsoft lawsuit, an early example of internet-era music hoaxes.
