Album Notes & Community Reviews

Dedicating an entire session to the highly idiosyncratic compositions of Thelonious Monk, the two contrasting tenor saxophonists navigate the angular logic of the material with ferocious energy. Griffin's lightning-fast agility perfectly counterbalances Davis's gritty, muscular blues wailing. The project successfully translates complex, avant-garde adjacent piano music into a highly accessible, hard-swinging blowing date.
