Album Notes & Community Reviews
Conceived as a tribute to Billie Holiday, 'White Gardenia' surrounds tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin with lush, sweeping orchestrations arranged by Melba Liston and Norman Simmons. The record provides a rare opportunity to hear the famously rapid-fire 'Little Giant' playing with profound restraint and romantic lyricism.
