Album Notes & Community Reviews

Fully embracing his reinvention as a pimp-styled funk pioneer, Johnny "Guitar" Watson delivers a relentlessly groovy and humorous effort with 'A Real Mother for Ya'. The record relies heavily on the Minimoog synthesizer for its infectious basslines, complemented by Watson's signature biting blues guitar fills. It stands as a pinnacle of 70s synth-funk, successfully merging blues tradition with the slick, danceable aesthetics of the era.
