Listening to Pictures (Pentimento Volume One)

Album Notes & Community Reviews

A late-career album from visionary trumpeter and composer Jon Hassell, this record continues his lifelong exploration of 'Fourth World' music. It blends tribal ambient textures with glitchy electronics and his uniquely processed trumpet sound, creating a dense and mysterious work. 'Listening to Pictures' is an example of his concept of 'vertical listening,' a state of deep, focused attention to sonic detail.
