Co-produced with Thomas Dolby, this release represents one of the most drastic stylistic departures in the esteemed songwriter's catalog. 'Dog Eat Dog' heavily utilizes the Fairlight CMI synthesizer and prominent drum programming to deliver biting, politically charged critiques of consumerism, televangelism, and environmental degradation. The heavily synthesized sound and topical lyrical focus deeply polarized critics and her traditional folk-leaning audience.
