The debut album from Montreal-based producer Jean-Christophe Vallerand is a dizzying and meticulously crafted work of plunderphonics. 'Selfless' is built entirely from thousands of micro-samples sourced from YouTube and other online media, painstakingly arranged into complex, cinematic, and often anxious sound collages. The album deconstructs and reassembles our digital reality into a fragmented and compelling new form, blending techniques from glitch, IDM, and musique concrète.
