Album Notes & Community Reviews
Blending sophisticated acoustic blues technique with the stark realism of Southern penal labor history, the influential singer presents a deeply moving conceptual collection. His intricate fingerpicking and expressive, smooth vocals strip the material down to its poignant, human core. The recording serves as a powerful artistic statement on oppression and resilience within early American folk forms.
