Album Notes & Community Reviews
Tackling one of the most harrowing protest songs of the twentieth century, the acoustic bluesman brings a stark, chilling intimacy to the anti-lynching anthem. Stripped of large orchestral accompaniment, his intricate guitar work frames a deeply passionate and uncompromising vocal performance. The recording further cemented his status as an essential voice of mid-century civil rights activism.
