Album Notes & Community Reviews

Characterized by its effortless blend of laid-back acoustic folk and breezy, jazz-inflected rhythms, 'Castles' captures the quintessential California roots-rock sound. The ensemble relies heavily on the intertwined, highly expressive vocal harmonies of Toni Brown and Terry Garthwaite, delivering socially conscious lyricism over incredibly tight, soulful arrangements. It remains a critically revered touchstone of the West Coast folk-rock movement.
