Album Notes & Community Reviews

Winning the Pulitzer Prize for Music, this profoundly emotional, incredibly ambitious oratorio pays a deeply haunting tribute to the Pennsylvania coal mining industry. 'Anthracite Fields' beautifully weaves the avant-garde post-minimalism of the Bang on a Can All-Stars with sweeping, highly complex vocal arrangements from the accompanying choir. The resulting recording is a devastatingly sad, highly dissonant, and brilliantly executed work of modern classical history.
