Album Notes & Community Reviews

Comprised of veterans from seminal underground acts like Rodan and Lungfish, the incredibly influential indie rock supergroup debuted with a tense, highly atmospheric recording. Distinctively utilizing cryptic, deeply nautical-themed lyricism, the band intertwines quiet, spoken-word passages with explosive, rhythmically complex math-rock guitar dynamics. The remarkably brooding, heavily syncopated aesthetic instantly established them as leading architects of mid-90s post-hardcore.
