Album Notes & Community Reviews

Making a highly successful debut as a leader, the pianist delivers a joyful, relentlessly swinging trio session backed by Ray Brown and Lex Humphries. His distinctive style relies on heavily accented chords and deep, gospel-inflected blues phrasing that perfectly captures the accessible groove of the era. The album immediately established him as a premier voice in the developing soul-jazz movement.
