In Verses

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Thirteen years after the labyrinthine Asymmetry, Karnivool re-emerges with In Verses, a meticulously crafted statement forged over a decade of patient evolution. Retaining Forrester Savell’s muscular production, the album expands the band’s sonic architecture with unprecedented textural layers, weaving intricate guitar polyphonies around Steve Judd’s signature rhythmic complexity. Ian Kenny’s vocals navigate a dynamic range from soaring melody to introspective verse, while the inclusion of orchestral elements—strings, harp, and even bagpipes—alongside a guest solo from Guthrie Govan signals a deliberate shift towards a more expansive, cinematic, and compositionally mature sound.
