Album Notes & Community Reviews

Kassav' was founded in Paris by Jacob Desvarieux, Pierre-脡douard D茅cimus and Freddy Marshall, who set out to modernize the music of Guadeloupe and Martinique and in doing so created zouk. 'Ay茅' is an early blueprint of that sound, all carnival rhythm sections and call-and-response choruses, before 'Y茅l茅l茅' perfected the formula.
