Album Notes & Community Reviews

Helmed by producer and songwriter Mike Batt, this highly successful debut introduced Melua's crystalline, understated vocal style to a massive international audience. The arrangements are deeply traditional, leaning heavily on gentle orchestral backing and classic jazz instrumentation to create a soothing, sophisticated atmosphere. It became one of the biggest-selling releases of the decade in the UK.
