Album Notes & Community Reviews

An achingly beautiful, deeply contemplative effort showcasing the pianist alongside saxophonist Jan Garbarek, bassist Charlie Haden, and a string orchestra. The sweeping, modern classical arrangements were entirely composed by Jarrett, offering a soft, pastoral backdrop for the trio's minimalist jazz improvisations. It epitomizes the freezing, heavily atmospheric aesthetic that defined the ECM label during the 1970s.
