Don't Trust Mirrors

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Don't Trust Mirrors', Kelly Moran returns to prepared piano and synthesizer, creating an immersive electroacoustic world that bridges modern classical, ambient, and more rhythmic, techno-inspired structures. The album explores themes of reflection and reconnection, balancing intricate, arpeggiated pulses with spacious, atmospheric chords to create a sound that is both texturally rich and emotionally resonant. Featuring a notable collaboration with labelmate Bibio, the compositions juxtapose delicate, clockwork-like prepared piano timbres against enveloping synth pads, continuing Moran's career-long exploration of the synthesis between acoustic instrumentation and electronic manipulation.
