Album Notes & Community Reviews
Kendrick Lamar's 'Damn.' shifts from the jazz-funk of its predecessor to a more direct sound that fuses conscious hip-hop with trap, R&B, and pop. Lyrically, the album confronts themes of duality, faith, and fate through Lamar's versatile and character-driven vocal performances, all within a structure intended to be playable in reverse for a different narrative perspective. The work achieved significant commercial success and widespread critical acclaim, ultimately becoming the first non-classical or jazz album to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
