Album Notes & Community Reviews
Removing the piano from the standard hard bop quintet format, the trumpeter creates a sparse, harmonically open environment for his front-line partnership with baritone saxophonist Ernie Henry. The chordless setting demands rigorous melodic invention and deeply intuitive rhythmic interplay. The session captures the artists at their most creatively unencumbered.
