Album Notes & Community Reviews
Following a highly productive stint in California, the remarkably fluent, blues-steeped pianist leads a muscular, deeply swinging trio session heavily anchored by bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Philly Joe Jones. The impeccably tight tracks perfectly bridge his sophisticated bebop vocabulary with the aggressive, earthy groove of the emerging hard bop style. It remains a highly regarded, quintessential showcase of his immense instrumental command.
