Album Notes & Community Reviews

After departing the Soft Machine, Kevin Ayers crafted a whimsical, remarkably eccentric solo debut that perfectly encapsulates the quirky charm of the Canterbury Scene. 'Joy of a Toy' is wonderfully playful and fiercely melodic, blending highly surreal, surprisingly humorous psychedelic pop with deeply progressive, vividly colorful orchestrations.
