Electric Phin Band

Discovered completely by chance via a grainy YouTube video of a rural Thai parade, this local wedding and party band was subsequently tracked down by an American record label for a proper field recording. The musicians electrify traditional Molam music using a custom-built, heavily distorted phin (a local lute), resulting in long, hypnotic psychedelic rock jams. The joyous, unrelenting grooves capture the raw spirit of communal celebration.
