Stepping back slightly from the crushing industrial metal of their previous record, the veteran post-punk outfit incorporated prominent acoustic guitars and swirling, neo-psychedelic textures. Jaz Coleman's intensely political, spiritually charged lyricism targets government corruption and societal decay. The album's dense, melodic, and highly atmospheric approach marked the end of an era, as the band would enter an extended hiatus following its release.
