Star in the Hood

'Star in the Hood' is an abstract sound collage built from manipulated modern classical piano, field recordings, and layered vocal samples. The album's production creates a disorienting yet introspective atmosphere by contrasting dense, distorted noise with sparse, dreamlike passages of drone and ambient R&B. Klein's compositional approach involves cutting and looping these disparate sonic elements, using her own singing voice sparingly while focusing on a complex and shifting textural landscape.
