Returning from an eight-year hiatus following extensive side projects, the Liverpool electro-pop quartet delivers a dark, highly polished self-titled comeback album. Co-produced with Jim Abbiss, the record expertly balances driving, retro-futuristic synthesizers with soaring, dream-pop vocal melodies that explore themes of environmental collapse and political dystopia. It proved their icy, signature aesthetic remained entirely potent.
