The record relies entirely on Chris Adler's punishing drum grooves and Mark Morton's intricate, galloping thrash-metal riffs, bypassing excessive studio editing to capture a visceral live energy. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, securing their position at the forefront of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal.
