'Perjantai 14. pÀivÀ' presents a distinctly acoustic and ballad-heavy sound, built on synth-pop arrangements and layered guitars, a departure from much of the band's other work due to being recorded without a full-time drummer. Gösta Sundqvist's songwriting forgoes the group's characteristic tragicomic irony for more earnest and sensitive lyrical themes, exemplified by the album's major hit, "Pohjois-Karjala", a tale of yearning for one's home region. While not an immediate top-seller, the album is considered a foundational work that solidified the band's unique sound and paved the way for their future commercial success in Finland.
