Album Notes & Community Reviews

A towering achievement in the French chanson tradition, this ambitious double album features Léo Ferré setting the dark, symbolist poetry of Charles Baudelaire to music. The arrangements vary from stark, intimate accompaniment to sweeping, dramatic orchestrations, perfectly mirroring the profound melancholy and romanticism of the source material. It remains a critically revered marriage of literary genius and uncompromising musical interpretation.
