Album Notes & Community Reviews
Significantly moving away from the strict 1960s retro-soul pastiche of his debut, the Texan vocalist embraces sleek, contemporary R&B production. The album鈥攏amed after the East Hollywood studio and bar where it was recorded鈥攑airs his remarkably smooth voice with atmospheric synthesizers and laid-back, late-night grooves. It marks a confident, sophisticated modernization of his vintage sound.
