Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally intended as his own sophomore album before the material was famously repurposed for Marvin Gaye's legendary 'I Want You', the prolific songwriter eventually recorded his own deeply sensual version of these grooves. Operating within a nearly identical, lushly orchestrated quiet-storm atmosphere, the record is driven by highly passionate, romantic lyricism and incredibly smooth funk arrangements. It is widely considered one of the most masterful, criminally overlooked soul records of the 1970s.
