Sinfonietta

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Conducted by a close associate and pupil of the composer, this authoritative recording captures the massive, brass-heavy triumph of the Moravian masterwork. Břetislav Bakala guides the Czech Philharmonic through the complex, folk-inflected rhythms and brilliant fanfares with deep, intrinsic understanding. It is a vital, historically significant preservation of early twentieth-century Eastern European modernism.
