Pitfalls

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Norwegian progressive metal act undergoes a massive, highly controversial stylistic shift, largely abandoning heavy guitars in favor of lush synthesizers and symphonic pop. The album was written while frontman Einar Solberg was battling severe depression, resulting in incredibly vulnerable, soaring vocal performances. The record alienated some older fans but gained immense praise for its emotional honesty and ambitious orchestral arrangements.
