Album Notes & Community Reviews

An ambitious conceptual suite featuring the dramatic wordless vocals of Bas Sheva, 'The Passions' pushes the boundaries of standard easy listening into intense, almost cinematic territory. Les Baxter's lush orchestrations vividly illustrate a series of extreme emotional states, predating the mainstream explosion of the Exotica genre he helped pioneer. It remains a fascinatingly bizarre and emotionally volatile artifact of mid-century studio experimentation.
