Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stripped of any electric backing, this intimate session captures a master of the Texas acoustic tradition in an exceptionally relaxed, communicative environment. His intricate, unpredictable fingerpicking serves as a conversational counterpoint to his stark, narrative vocal deliveries. 'Goin' Away' remains a remarkably pure document of rural blues storytelling preserved during the height of the urban folk revival.
