Album Notes & Community Reviews

Another masterfully unpolished recording for the Bluesville imprint, 'Smokes Like Lightnin'' captures the Texas blues legend in peak, extemporaneous form. Relying purely on his spontaneous lyrical narratives and wildly idiosyncratic, syncopated acoustic guitar playing, Hopkins delivers deeply personal, evocative blues. The stark, unadorned production perfectly highlights his role as one of the genre's greatest and most authentic storytellers.
