Album Notes & Community Reviews

In a bold stylistic departure that defied industry expectations, the pop-rock superstar collaborated with legendary arranger Nelson Riddle to tackle the Great American Songbook. 'What's New' features incredibly lush orchestral backing and impeccable vocal control, completely avoiding the synthesizers that dominated the era. The album was a massive, multi-platinum success, sparking a massive industry trend of pop singers recording traditional jazz standards.
