Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced largely by John Boylan, Ronstadt's inaugural release for Asylum Records significantly crystallized the pristine, deeply emotional country-pop sound that would shortly make her a superstar. Backed by elite Los Angeles studio musicians (including early incarnations of the Eagles), her soaring, flawlessly powerful vocals elevate covers of contemporary songwriters like J.D. Souther and Randy Newman. The album remains a definitive text in the polished, highly successful California country-rock movement.
