Time Loves a Hero

Reflecting the shifting internal dynamics of the legendary Southern rock act, this release finds the group leaning heavily into complex jazz-fusion and deeply syncopated funk. With primary songwriter Lowell George struggling with substance abuse and contributing less material, keyboardist Bill Payne and guitarist Paul Barrere steered the musical direction toward extended, highly technical instrumental workouts. Despite the internal friction, it remains a dazzling showcase of their collective musicianship.
