Album Notes & Community Reviews

Anchored by the massive, highly influential crossover smash 'Stagger Lee', this energetic release beautifully captures the rolling, brass-heavy essence of the New Orleans R&B sound. The vocalist's booming, remarkably infectious delivery is perfectly framed by driving piano triplets and highly syncopated horn arrangements. The polished yet undeniably raw production established him as a dominant, profoundly successful architect of early rhythm and blues.
