Album Notes & Community Reviews

A quintessential documentation of the transition from bebop into a more accessible, groove-oriented sound, anchored by the bright, bluesy alto saxophone of the leader. Supported by a stellar quintet, the set successfully blends rapid-fire rhythmic precision with the foot-tapping soulfulness that became synonymous with the era's jukebox hits.
