Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded in London featuring progressive rock stalwarts Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman, Lou Reed's solo debut largely consists of reworked, unreleased Velvet Underground material. The eponymous album is wonderfully playful and distinctly rock-oriented, balancing deeply bittersweet, highly romantic urban storytelling with a surprisingly breezy, melodic summer atmosphere.
