Album Notes & Community Reviews

This infectious set of recordings showcases the high-energy bridge between traditional swing and the burgeoning sound of early rock and roll. The bandleader's dynamic vocal delivery and sharp saxophone lines drive the compact, dance-oriented arrangements. The tracks established a widely imitated template for commercial rhythm and blues.
