Album Notes & Community Reviews

Perfectly bottling the raucous, highly entertaining energy of his legendary Las Vegas lounge residencies, the boisterous bandleader fuses Dixieland jazz with intense rhythm and blues pacing. Driven by the searing saxophone work of Sam Butera and the deadpan vocal foils of Keely Smith, the performances are aggressively rhythmic and joyously unpretentious. The wildly successful record captured an essential, high-octane slice of mid-century Italian-American nightclub culture.
