Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced largely by Steely Dan's Gary Katz, the Scottish group's sophomore release embraces a highly polished, soul-inflected sophisti-pop aesthetic. The pristine arrangements perfectly complement frontman James Grant's velvety vocals and funk-leaning guitar work. Despite immense critical praise for its urbane, sophisticated sound, the album remained a cult favorite rather than a massive commercial breakthrough.
