Album Notes & Community Reviews

Guided by a lush, deeply swinging tenor saxophone tone, the leader collaborates closely with a pioneering modern bassist on 'Lucky Thompson Featuring Oscar Pettiford'. The sessions are marked by highly melodic, thoughtfully constructed solos that eschew the aggressive pyrotechnics of contemporary hard bop.
